How to Approach Anyone in Three Easy Steps!

29 Jan

The reasoning for this blog is to help YOU approach anyone so you may join a club, organization, or just meet someone. You may be thinking to yourself, “I can do that,” and have confidence in your abilities to approach people already. But if you have trouble or anxiety talking to new people, read on! I can guarantee that if you follow 3 steps, you will succeed. The three steps are:

  • Smile
  • Be Positive
  • Know Your Purpose

The first step coincides with the second step. You must smile in order to feel good about what you are doing or going to do. This in turn will make you feel positive about what or who you are approaching. Sometimes you may have a down day but try your best to put a smile on so you could change another person’s day for the better. Can you say grumpy things with a smile on your face? Grumpy cat says no.

The third approach is to know your purpose. By this, I mean that  I want you to think about what you want to accomplish before you approach someone. What is it that you want to accomplish by talking to them? What are you going to say? Why do you want to? How is this going happen? Maybe imagine the situation in your mind and then DO IT. Have 20 seconds of courage to talk to someone whether it be faculty, a administrator, or a boy/girl. Just remember that whatever the outcome is, it’ll be okay. Your life will go on! If they are very responsive, then you have succeeded! Don’t quit and remember to not let anything get you down. Just have 20 more seconds of courage!
