5 Steps to Prepare for Fall Registration

6 Mar

It’s that time of the semester again everyone! In between studying for midterms and planning for your spring break, be sure to make some time for advisor appointments, and perhaps even take a peek on UAccess to shop around for next semester classes. Here are some simple steps you can follow to appropriately prepare for Fall 2015 registration:

Step 1: Check requirements and Advisement Report on UAccess

The following image shows you how to access your Advisement Report from UAccess:

Ask yourself the following general questions upon entering UAccess:

Is my Bursar’s paid in full with a $0 balance? (I cannot register otherwise!)

How many credits have I completed so far?

How many am I willing to complete or wish to complete this upcoming semester?

Have I completed all of my general education requirements?

Once you answer these crucial questions by looking through your Advisement Report, you can start exploring what classes you still need to fulfill major, minor, or gen ed. requirements.

Step 2: Browse UAccess & explore the playing field

The next step to a well planned new schedule is to browse through classes that fulfill particular requirements or interests. You can write them down, put them in your shopping cart if it is open, or you can choose to put them in your online planner through UAccess.

Below is an example of where you can go within your Advisement Report to browse through different courses that fulfill certain diploma needs:Screen Shot 2015-03-02 at 3.14.47 PM

Step 3: Schedule to see your advisor

This step is important to prepare for in advance. Write down any lingering questions you may have after exploring your Advisement Report on UAccess. Know what you are going to talk about before your meeting to avoid forgetting to hit certain points and ramble during your meeting. Bring a notepad and paper to take notes on what is discussed.

To make an appointment with you Advisor, go to http://advising.arizona.edu/

From the Academic Advisor Directory on the webpage, you can find your advisor By College or By Major.

Step 4: Confer with family, friends, and loved ones

Feel free to seek out the opinions and reinforcement of your family and friends regarding your schedule. However, you should remember that in the end you must make appropriate decisions and adjustments in your own best interest.

Step 5: Mark your calendar for your cohort’s priority registration dates!

Again, make sure your Bursar’s on UAccess is paid in full (and that you do not have any holds) before registration opens up. You will not be able to register for classes until this is completed.
